Early Bird/Author Registration Deadline* Sunday 30 June 2024

General Policies and Requirements
  • The presenting author will be required to register for the Conference in order to ensure their abstract(s) is included in the final program. Deadline for presenting author registration is 30 June 2024.
  • All submissions must be completed electronically via the online submission form. If you are unable to submit in this manner, please contact the Conference Managers at ahrc2024@arinexgroup.com or phone: +61 2 9265 0700 for further information.
  • All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Abstracts will only be accepted if submitted within the format and layout guidelines.
  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts that may be submitted by an individual. However, splitting of a body of work into multiple abstracts is discouraged and consolidation into one abstract is preferred. In addition, a maximum of one oral presentation may be allocated to an accepted author.
  • Authors are required to acknowledge that by submitting an abstract, permission is automatically given for the abstract (if accepted) to be made available on the website and via the app, and possibly published more broadly.
Abstract format and layout guidelines
  • Abstracts must not exceed a 300-word limit. The word limit relates only to the text of the abstract and does not include title, authors and institutions.
  • Use single line spacing.
  • Abstracts must be free of typographical and grammatical errors.
  • Standard abbreviations may be used for common terms only. Otherwise, any abbreviation should be given in brackets after the first full use of the word. Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
  • 1 image is permitted.
  • Presenters must disclose any potential conflict of interest.
  • You will be asked to provide a short biography (up to 150 words) with your submission.
  • You will be asked to nominate your preference for oral or digital poster presentation.
  • Please include degrees or professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof., etc).
  • It is the author’s responsibility to ensure the title, author and affiliation details entered in the paper submission site are correct and exactly as they should be published on the abstract and all Conference materials.
  • The abstract should be a summary of the whole paper, briefly outlining the key features, results, and conclusions of the work together with their significance. Authors are requested to indicate the conference theme that their abstract relates to.
  • Authors are entered separately within the abstract submission portal and will format automatically to the required standard.
NOTE: The order of the authors entered in the portal will be reflected in final publications.
Conference Themes

Please submit your abstract under one of the following themes. Detailed list of topics is available on the website.

    • Hydrogen Generation
    • Hydrogen Storage
    • Hydrogen Distribution
    • Hydrogen Utilisation
    • Cross-cutting Topics
Presentation Types

The following presentation types will be available for selection upon submission of an abstract:

Oral Presentation
Oral Presentation: 15-minute presentation, comprising of 12 minutes + 3 minutes for questions.

Poster Presentations
Digital Poster: available to view on smartphones, tablets and interactive kiosks provided in the Foyer of the ICC Sydney throughout the duration of the Conference. There will be a dedicated poster session to allow for delegates to ask questions of poster presenters.

At the time of submission, you will be asked to select your preferred format of presentation. However, not all requests can be accommodated, and the final format will be selected by the Program Committee. Every effort will be made to honour presentation requests.

Notification of submission outcome

Notification of provisional acceptance will be sent via email to the submitting author by 7 June 2024. Shortlisting of abstracts will be carried out based on research quality and anticipated interest to the attendees. Provisional acceptance or otherwise is at the discretion of the Program Committee whose decision is final.

All presenting authors must register and pay to attend the Conference by Sunday 30 June 2024. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure the title, author and affiliation details entered in the paper submission site are correct and exactly as they should be published on the abstract.

Please note: Any abstract that does not comply with these specifications will not be accepted by the online submission process. The Conference Managers will not be held responsible for abstract submissions not received via the website or for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.

Thank you for your help in making the AHRC 2024 Conference a success! For further information, please contact the AHRC 2024 Conference Organisers at ahrc2024@arinexgroup.com.

Reviewing criteria

Abstracts should be in paragraph form, without bullet points. Additionally, the abstract body should include details regarding the background, purpose, methods, results, and conclusions. Please also indicate the theory/analytical framework for the work and provide a description of the research methods used.

Each paper will be reviewed based on the below criteria:

  • Clarity of the paper with respect to its objectives, method, (expected) findings and their significance
  • Quality of the paper with respect to its significance and relevance to the conference themes
  • Is the methodology appropriate for the research question/aims?
  • Overall quality of paper and anticipated interest to the conference attendees
Thematic Sessions

Proposals are now invited for thematic sessions at AHRC 2024.

THEMATIC SESSIONS aim to highlight current research on hydrogen-related subjects. Thematic sessions will consist of four oral presentations with a unifying theme. The individual contributions are expected to be of very high quality and provide a shred of evidence to the takeaway message of the unifying theme.

The Organising Committee will select a limited number of proposed Thematic Sessions based on the relevance of the theme, scientific quality, and originality of the research. AHRC 24  encourage contributors to thematic sessions to submit their abstracts as individual abstracts where authors indicate the proposed thematic session title and lead. These abstracts will undergo the normal refereeing process. The abstract from the accepted thematic sessions will automatically be approved for oral presentation in the thematic session. Thematic sessions will run in the same way as regular parallel sessions, with in-person presentations only. The time slot for thematic sessions will be published with the rest of the conference schedule.

How to propose a Thematic Session:
The thematic session proposal should contain the following information:
• Proposed title of the Thematic Session
• Name(s) of the Thematic Session’s organiser(s) and Chair
• What aspect of hydrogen energy is this theme related:
• Short description of the theme (100 words) explaining how the abstract is connected, what is the key takeaway message from of the session and why is strongly aligned to hydrogen research.
Once all information has been compiled, complete the submission via the submissions portal under ‘Thematic Session Proposal’.

• Then, submit all abstracts as per the normal abstract guidelines, selecting abstract and then thematic session and presentation type.

Thematic Proposal submission deadline 14 June 2024

Guidelines for Thematic Sessions:
• Thematic Session organiser(s) must commit to registering and attending AHRC 2024
• Thematic Session organiser(s) must commit to chairing the specific Thematic Session.
• Thematic Session organiser(s) are also fully responsible for ensuring that the session contributors are aware of and follow the rules below.
• Multiple paper presentations from a single author in same thematic session is not allowed. If a abstract is accepted for presentation in a thematic session, the abstract will be excluded from any other session.
• There are no earmarked financial resources to support Thematic Sessions.
• Participants in an accepted thematic session must pay the conference registration fees and take advantage of early bird registration.
• If a Thematic Session proposal is not approved, but the abstract (if submitted as a standalone abstract) is accepted in the normal process then papers will be included in the Parallel Sessions.
• AHRC encourages the thematic session proposal with the collaboration of more than one institution.
• Thematic session proposal bringing international collaboration in relevant themes and strong quality may be prioritized for thematic session.
